Abstract

Comparative law perspectives between the US and Latin America reveal a division between the US common law system, based on case law, and the Latin American civil law system, centered on codified law of Roman origin. This difference is evident in how the law is constructed, but it also drives comparative studies focused on legal harmonization, the consolidation of human rights, the strengthening of institutions, and the search for solutions to common challenges, such as integration processes or the application of norms in the field of public international law.
