Abstract

Education is a central element and indicator of development in all societies, and
specifically, it is associated with an improvement in people's quality of life, as it
impacts not only the present, but also the future of children and adolescents by
generating socio-affective, academic and productive conditions that provide them
with more opportunities in their adult lives. This is why academic permanence is a
topic of interest in the management of educational processes at all levels;
emphasis must be placed on secondary school, since adolescents go through
various transformations in their lives that can negatively affect their school life,
starting from The above, this study analyzed the factors of interest in academic
permanence in two countries: Colombia and Venezuela, based on a qualitative
study with the application of documentary and field techniques, such as the
application of structured interviews to officials in charge of space administration
secondary education. It stands out in both nations that preponderance is given to
academic permanence strategies taking into account the various factors that have
an implication. However, in the case of Venezuela, due to the dynamics that
migration has generated, centrality is given to the family factor, while in Colombia,
to the conditions of vulnerability derived from socio-economic conditions. Finally, it
is concluded that it is necessary for educational authorities to develop a
multifactorial and comprehensive plan with strategies aimed at the various areas
that interfere with academic permanence.
