Abstract

After reviewing the figures published by the SEP, which show a significant percentage of high school students nationwide face failure and dropout rates, a systematic analysis is conducted on the influence of family on academic performance at the high school level to identify factors such as the family environment in their cognitive and emotional development. The literature was classified according to its methodological approach and the philosophical theories it addresses, like positivism and social constructivism. Findings indicate that most studies focus on theoretical descriptions and highlight the need for research addressing family dynamics and students’ perspectives in an integrated manner. It is concluded that a positive family environment, with emotional support and parental involvement, can significantly improve academic performance, and it is emphasized the need to implement educational strategies that involve the family to address educational problems.
